OUR FAMILY OF FLIERS
Over the years, many people from all over the world and from all walks of life have joined us on our spectacular flights. from those trips, we have made new friends, shared new experiences and discussed common interests as we enjoyed the sights that one can only find in Hawaii. Below are some letters and photos of some of the many students and professional pilots that have become part of our flying family.

The AirNav.com website has a number of comments that people have posted.

Dear Terry,

If any of our members are going to Hawaii, they need to know that on Maui a service exists called Maui Aviators.

You will meet Jon Muralt (808)871-6990 (business), who will give you your mandatory three take-offs and landings and check your crosswind technique. Hawaii is famous for gusty crosswinds. It's a great time to work on your crosswind procedures.

He will also point out all the local points of interest: famous stars homes in Hana, shipwrecks, beautiful falls and clothing optional beaches as well.

Without Jon you wouldn't know that 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 are west bound altitudes and 1,500 and 2,500 are east bound altitudes below 3,000 ft. You can rent his plane for one hour and take your family on a familiarization flight, that would cost you $150 a seat by a local tour operator.

If any of our members are going to Hawaii, look up Jon at Maui Aviators. You'll leave with a wonderful friendship, snapshots, and memories of some of the most beautiful flying anywhere.

A note of interest. The Archer was flown to Hawaii from Southern California. The plane was tanked and was 145% over gross when it left. When it landed in Hilo, it had 45 minutes of fuel on board.

If the ferry pilot can trust it over thousands of miles of open ocean, you can trust it for the 10 to 50 mile inter-island hops.

If you go, be sure to look up Lindbergh's grave in Hana, and try the homemade bread on sale in the Molokai Airport. There is also the Kalaupapa Airport with the Father Damien Leper colony, but you have to be 16 years old and call ahead to fly.

  Dear Jon:

I just wanted to thank you for being a tour guide extraordinaire on my recent visit to Maui. My brother-in-law and I had a great time.

Next time I come to Maui, I'll bring my ticket so I can do some serious flying. I was thinking that renting your airplane would be one heck of a way to see the islands.

Thanks again for the personal touch. I think flying your airplane is one of the most reasonable values on the island. I hope you will contact me if you have an occasion to be in the San Francisco Bay area. I would like to keep in touch.

  Jon,

Here are a couple of shots from our flight.

Thanks so much for the familiarization flight. Next year I will get checked out and take the same route on my own. It was great! Thanks again.

  Jon,

Just a quick note to again express our thanks for the time you spent with Christine and I last week. You opened up a whole new world to her, and I sincerely appreciate and value the knowledge you gave to me about aviation. I know it will help me a great deal to become a better pilot. God willing, we will be back in October for more fun. I feel like we've known you for years and have made a friend. Thanks again, aloha & mahalo

  Dear Jon,

Hope all is well in paradise. It's cold here. Thought you might like a copy of the article about you in the Jan 94 issue of POM. Thanks for you help. Hope to return ASAP.
